Kent Singers

The Kent Singers, a small auditioned group of amateur singers, have been bringing high quality choral performances to the Kent community for 38 years.

The group is known for its clean, finely pitched sound.   Since the fall of 2008, the group has been performing mostly a capella under the direction of members with experience conducting.

Programs that Kent Singers develops have included early music, baroque, classical and modern works, both sacred and secular.

Members of the group are a congenial, varied bunch -- professions range from teaching to garden photography, from computer programming to veterinary medicine, from masonry to the ministry.

We had a busy spring, with three concerts and participation in a Choral Festival in May.

In December 2011 the Kent Singers will present two performances of their Christmas concert:

The Christmas Story -- Tell it Again!

Sunday, Dec. 4 at St. Mark's Church in Bridgewater, 3:00 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 11 at St. Andrew's Church in Kent, 4:00 p.m.

The Christmas program is built around the performing of Heinrich Schutz's "The Christmas Story." Additional carols come from Austria, England, Italy, Ontario, and Spain, added to five popular holiday songs of American origin arranged by Kirby Shaw.
