Kent Singers, a highly respected choral group, has just the ticket for putting you into a holiday mood. The group of 20 auditioned singers, under the direction of artistic director Marguerite Mullee, will present “A New England Christmas” featuring A Christmas Cantata by Daniel Pinkham on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Chapel at Kent School.

Other selections will be drawn from the long history of singing in the northeast states. A Shaker song, music from the 18th century and a lovely Christmas Carol from Charles Ives are some of the items on the program.

This is the 35th year that Kent Singers has performed in Northwest Connecticut. Members of the group come from northwest Connecticut and nearby New York.

Artistic Director Marguerite Mullee, who has been with Kent Singers since 1999, has an extensive background in choral conducting. Kent Singers has been designated as the performing group for Connecticut Composers, Inc., a collaboration of composers writing music today.

Tickets for “A New England Christmas” are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. For more information, please visit www.kentsinger.org or call (860) 354-2156.
